چکیده

ne way to construct iritelligent controllers is to use an agent0 centered approach in \which the agents themselves determine the global structure of the controller and the inter-agent cooperation methods. To assess this approach, the design and testing of a distributed intelligent coritroller for a laboratory-scale mine refrigeration plant is discussed. Underlying theoretical concepts are briefly reviewed, and experimental results are presented. Important findings are that the approach supports the use of multiple knowledge representations, the use of partial results, and dynamic structuring of the distributed controller. The results presented indicate that development for practical, supervisory-level control applications is worthy of further investigation.

Distributed Voltage Control in Distribution Networks with High Penetration of Photovoltaic Systems

In this paper, a distributed method for reactive power management in a distribution system has been presented. The proposed method focuses on the voltage rise where the distribution systems are equipped with a considerable number of photovoltaic units. This paper proposes the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMMs) approach for solving the optimal voltage control problem in a distri...

Congestion Management in Power Systems Via Intelligent Method

In the deregulated power systems, transmission congestion is one of the significant and main problems of the electrical networks which can cause incremental cost in the energy. This problem has resulted to new challenging issues in different parts of power systems which there was not in the traditional systems or at least had very little importance. Transmission congestion happens when the maxi...

Introduction to neural networks for intelligent control - IEEE Control Systems Magazine

In this paper, neural network architecture is presented as one approach to the design and implementation of intelligent control systems. Neural networks can be considered as massively parallel distributed processing systems with the potential for ever-improving performance through dynamical learning. The nomenclature and characteristics of neural networks are outlined, and two simple examples a...

Why Do We Need Intelligent Systems?

This is my last editorial before moving on to other things. The IEEE Computer Society has a policy, which I strongly applaud, of term limits for editors in chief, and I’ve reached the end of mine. Four years has been long enough to put my stamp on the magazine’s direction, but not so long as to cast it permanently into concrete. I have great faith that the magazine will be in good hands and tha...

Introduction to networking for integrated control systems - IEEE Control Systems Magazine

An integrated control system has disparate and spatially distributed subsystems interconnected via a common communication channel. Digital data from sensor to controller and from controller to actuator are multiplexed along with traffic from other control loops and management functions. The asynchronous time-division multiplexing introduces time-varying and possibly stochastic delays in the con...
